Diagnostic Accuracy of Ultrasound and MRI for Diagnosis of Adenomyosis Taking Histopathology as Gold Standard

Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography to detect adenomyosis, keeping histopathology as gold standard.
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
 Place Duration Study: Radiology Gynecology departments Combined Military Hospital, Quetta Pakistan, from Aug 2019 2021.
 Methodology: One hundred sixty-two patients were enrolled in this study after taking written informed consent. After history, all assessed by resonance imaging transvaginal ultrasonography. The magnetic ultrasound findings noted on a predesigned proforma. All underwent hysterectomy, Biopsy specimen was sent for histological confirmation adenomyosis. diagnosis both initial modalities.
 Results: A total 162 study. mean age females junctional zone diameter (JZmax) mm MRI 38.56 years 12.54.9 mm. In terms parity, 32 (19.8%) nulliparous, 68 (42%) had low multi-parity, 62 (38.2%) high multi-parity. On imaging, adenomyosis present 112 (69.1%) females. ultrasound, it 97 (59.9%) females, histopathology, 105 (64.8%) out which 36 (34%) diffuse (30.8%) focal sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative value 86.7%, 36.9%, 81.3%, 71.8% 78.4% respectively 65.7%, 50.9%,.............
